B&B Sun Garden

The lack of privacy and basic guest protection was what finally made us feel so uneasy. Upstairs was another apartment connected to ours by a sliding door, but the key was only on their side. One night, a man with a guitar who smelled of alcohol appeared at our entrance window several times, then came to the door at least twice and tried to talk to us. I couldn’t tell whether he was the owner’s friend or another guest. He left when we went into the bedrooms, but came back a couple of times to check. The next morning, when we raised our concerns, we were told that country houses get dirty and that the bedrooms weren’t that bad. We’d already felt disgusted by the place, so those explanations didn’t help. Checkout was also an hour and a half earlier than the time listed on Booking. We’d chosen this B&B after seeing positive reviews and photos that made it look at least livable. I didn’t expect much for the price, but even an abandoned house might have been more hygienic. Dust and cobwebs were everywhere. We saw spiders, moths, mosquitoes, bedbugs, and other insects, including where people are supposed to eat. There was dirt throughout, and one bed had a stain. The walls were marked and dirty, and at least one towel was dirty too. I wasn’t comfortable assuming the others were clean. In the kitchen, there was liquid honey that had expired, apparently since 2019, along with other expired products. People describe the staff as kind and helpful. I can’t say much about that, but failing to meet basic hygiene standards also showed a lack of respect for guests. Even if a country house gets dirty easily, that doesn’t excuse what we found or make it acceptable to rent out.

I slept wonderfully here. The B&B is peaceful and comfortable, set in nature on the edge of town, with a lovely country feel. The owner was so kind and always ready to help with what guests needed. It was also spotlessly clean. We’d gladly give it more than five stars, and we’ll be back.

This was my second time booking here, and I’ve had a great stay both times. It’s a really pleasant B&B, and the owner is kind and always available. :)
