Arbatasar Hotel

The rooms felt luxurious, with plenty of space, nice decor, and daily cleaning. The architecture reminded me of a big, classic Mediterranean villa with some modern touches. At night, the olive tree with candles between the entrance and pool looked amazing. For a good stay in Arbatax, I’d highly recommend the Arbatasar Hotel. It sits close to the port for boat tours, the red rocks, Porto Frailis and Cala Moresca beaches, restaurants and a bus stop. I had a good experience, though ask reception about the hotel rules. It was also the first hotel where I had to give credit card information when I arrived.

The pool was fantastic, breakfast was good, and the staff were very professional. Everything was kept so clean and tidy, really impeccable. Our room was cozy, with a view of the pool and garden, a very clean bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Housekeeping deserves a compliment. The mattress is firm, so it may not suit everyone. The hotel made our vacation perfect. We’ll be back for sure!

There was only one outlet in the whole room, nowhere near the bed, which is horrible. I also found some bugs. How can a hotel have no bedside outlet? If you book, bring a large power bank or your own energy generator. That alone deserves one star, never mind the bugs. P.S. The owner didn’t hesitate to make rude comments in response to this review. They could take a picture and upload it, but won’t because they know they’re wrong. Why have one European socket and one German socket? Why should I need to buy an adapter? I posted this before checking out, so the owner could have come and spoken with me in person, but probably hid because he only has a big mouth online. I’d remove the review if someone proved me wrong. They also wouldn’t let me pay the city tax by credit card, only cash. I don’t know why the owner chose to do that. Every other place was happy to charge my card. I’m not sure this is a tourist-friendly hotel anymore.

The hotel has interesting architecture and spacious rooms. Breakfast was okay, not fantastic. For parking inside the hotel, you have to hand your car keys to reception. What really shocked me was the hotel and restaurant manager’s atrocious rudeness and lack of manners. We checked in around 5 p.m. and weren’t told anything about pool use. At 7:20 p.m., after we got back from the beach, I went to my room while my sons, aged 16 and 14, went to the pool, unaware that it closed at 7:30. While they showered off the salt and sand, a man approached them aggressively and rudely, speaking Italian, which they don’t understand. They complained, so I asked reception about the pool rules. I was only told it opened at 9 a.m. and closed at 7:30 p.m. I passed that on and thought that was it. The following day we arrived at 6:15 p.m. My sons went to the pool while I spent about 20 minutes at the nearby supermarket. When I got back, our room key cards had been blocked because we supposedly hadn’t followed the pool rules. My wife asked what rules, and they told her children had to be with their parents and diving wasn’t allowed. I went to tell the boys. The pool employee said they’d dived three times and weren’t with me. The posted rules didn’t give an age limit, so it seemed they considered anyone under 18 a child. I stayed by the pool and watched until 7:29 to make sure they followed the rules. Two other boys dived in, and the employee saw them but did nothing, clear double standards. At 7:30 we left. The manager was apologizing to some customers, saying the reprimands weren’t meant for them but for “others.” I speak Italian, so I understood he meant my family. Yet he never had the decency to speak with me personally during our two days there. This could easily have been avoided with a polite conversation. Instead, he showed bad manners and a complete inability to handle a simple situation. I’d planned to eat at the restaurant, but changed my mind. At checkout I complained, and reception gave me ridiculous excuses about his behavior.
