Camping Toscolano

The pricing wasn’t clear to me, but I think you pay for a plot that covers up to six people. With five friends, it might be a good deal. Traveling alone, though, made it incredibly expensive, and it felt like solo campers were being treated unfairly.

Men and women share the showers and toilets, and the cubicles aren’t separated.

Our mobile home was in good shape and had air conditioning. When the coffee machine wasn’t working properly, they gave us a brand new one still in its box, which was great service. We did miss having a kettle, though, and the entertainment team barely showed up. The programme was very repetitive and pretty boring. There’s a pool, a small shop, a playground and a little bar-restaurant, with direct access to Lake Garda. The campsite is leafy and pleasant. I’d still recommend Toscolano, with four stars.

The pitch spaces for tents and campers are large and partly shaded, the location is great, and the staff were kind and accommodating. The toilets are basic and staff clean them, but some guests don’t seem to know how to use the squat toilets or flush afterwards. Bigger bins by the dishwashing area, plus shelves and hooks in the washrooms, would help. We hadn’t decided whether to stay three, four or five nights. The price changed while we were there, leaving us with a bill €23 a day above the roughly €74 nightly rate we’d first been quoted. Since nobody had told us about the change and I thought it was too much, I asked if they could make a goodwill adjustment. They refunded the difference for two nights without any issue. We were very pleased, and that will definitely bring us back.
