The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed. Giuseppe has made a comfortable two-room place on the ground floor of his home, with the farm nearby, and our hosts brought us a lovely sweet breakfast (savory was an option too). Azzinano itself is a little mountain gem. There’s just one restaurant within an easy walk, and it serves one main dish, arrosticini, delicious roasted lamb skewers. Leave time to wander around and see the murals of old games children used to play. There’s also an Italian book for sale explaining their story and how they changed the village.

We spent six days here, and Maria Assunta and Giuseppe were lovely hosts. They were attentive and helpful, but still discreet, and had little surprises for us each day. The village is known for its 57 murals and is very peaceful. It worked well for a relaxing break or a motorcycle trip, with Gran Sasso Natural Park and lots of historic towns in Abruzzo close by.

The apartment was genuinely roomy, and the farmhouse is tucked away in a peaceful spot surrounded by nature. We stayed two nights and had a great time. The owners were easy to reach whenever needed, while keeping to themselves. Breakfast was generous and so good, with homemade cakes and savory pies, fresh fruit, yogurt, and more. Thanks, we’d happily recommend it.
