Hotel San Michele

Set in a nicely renovated building, the hotel had a basic but comfortable room. Breakfast was okay, though I’d have liked more variety and a few better choices. A good pick for somewhere simple and comfortable to stay.

We stayed at Hotel San Michele in Trapani during the first week of December 2025, in the off-season, so the rates were probably lower. It was a treat for us and didn’t disappoint. The hotel is stylishly modern but unassuming, and our room was neat, clean, and comfortable. The staff were polite, recommended a very good restaurant when we asked, and offered to make coffee before breakfast hours on the morning we left to catch an early bus. The Port, with the ferries and bus stops, is a few short blocks away. The hotel is roughly midway between the ends of the city where many restaurants open at this time of year, and close to a central shopping street with some lesser restaurants. Since we visited off-season, there might be more options at other times. We were very happy with our stay and recommend the hotel to others. One small thing: the plastic cups in our room were so flimsy that they cracked when I took them out of the wrapper. The desk immediately offered me a glass cup as a replacement, but the house cleaner put plastic ones back the next morning. I’m curious why a hotel this nice, which doesn’t seem to cut corners on decor, breakfast, or service, provides such fragile cups. If that’s all I can complain about, it’s obviously a pretty nice place to stay.

We loved staying here. The breakfast was delicious with lots of variety, the rooms were clean, and the staff were so pleasant. It’s a beautiful hotel in a great location, less than a five-minute walk from the port, car rentals, and the center. Our only minor drawback was getting a connecting room. The door was locked, but we could hear everything from the other room. We could have asked to change rooms, but had already started unpacking and didn’t want the hassle. I’d definitely stay here again. Trapani is beautiful.

We had a superior room that was big, clean, roomy, and spotless. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, just five minutes from the bus stops to Erice and some nice restaurants. The best part was the service. Valerie and Letizia were courteous and helpful, and their English was enough for us to communicate. They were also understanding about travelers’ needs and life issues.
