Le Vie di Trapani

The location is super central, and the floors have early 20th-century Greek fretwork. But the quality was very poor, and the photos are misleading. The building at Via Roma 26 is very old, with a staircase dating back to the early 1900s. In my opinion, the ceiling in one of the two apartments, the one with exposed beams, is unsafe. Limescale means the showers don’t work, and the hairdryer in the newer room has a recessed power button that makes it extremely dangerous. There’s also a strong damp smell.

The appetizer and the ambiance deserved more stars, and the start was promising. The restaurant is beautifully situated in the pedestrian zone, with pleasant, friendly service and an enticing selection of dishes. The mixed seafood platter was generous and delicious, and the caponata with peace spada was something special. But the mixed fish platter we ordered as a main course didn’t measure up. We also felt the price was a rip-off, which is a shame. I would gladly have given it more stars.

The apartment’s roomy setup and fully equipped kitchen made it a good fit for a stay longer than a weekend. It’s right in central Trapani, very close to the port, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The rooms have been updated in a fairly simple way. The location is excellent if you want to be in the city center, though the entrance and stairs feel very dated and are awkward when you have luggage.
