Dolomiti Chalet Hotel

We've been here after a year, and since 2023 the food, service, weather and hotel have all been horrible. We emailed three months ahead, three times, asking for rooms next to each other, but had trouble sorting it out when we arrived. The room they gave us had broken doors that barely shut or locked. The walls are very thin, so you can hear what people are doing in their rooms. Our balcony windows were cracked, and even though the phone showed a strong Wi-Fi signal, we couldn't even send WhatsApp messages. Since February 9, there has been an Italian school at the hotel. The noise from the halls carried through the thin walls, and the students shouted until 1 a.m. every night. That was so annoying, and reception didn't want to fix the problem. The location was horrible in this weather, too. Seeing so many clouds every day in Italy was shocking.

We've stayed at this hotel for a week each time, and we're really pleased with the meals, service and the kindness of all the staff. The ski lift is very close, and there's a great animation team. For the price, it's a great hotel at Monte Bondone.

The staff and service made up for the little annoyances, and we enjoyed our stay. It's close to the slopes, the meals were delicious even when the sides were a surprise, and the maître d' always had a huge smile, even when he wasn't in the best mood. It's also a lovely place for families. My kids had a blast, and the staff were helpful. Don't count on Wi-Fi in your room. The staff really tried to fix it, but nothing helped. Other guests said they'd got tired of complaining about the lack of in-room Wi-Fi. The electrical units in the room buzzed day and night, which was fine for me and the kids because we need noise to fall asleep. Dinner menus mentioned only part of each meal, leaving out the sides. We got a hamburger that was just a burger patty with roasted potatoes. The Italian translations didn't help much with choosing, and the Czech translations were a bit off, too.

The helpful dining staff were kind, and the children's staff were good with kids. The food was decent, with great views, cafes nearby and the ski hill close by. But I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with small children. The rooms were freezing both day and night, with heating only twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Towels weren't changed, and they didn't replace the bathroom soap until I asked. The door locks didn't always work, and nothing was done when I asked for a repair. Some room lights didn't work either. Internet was the worst I've had since 1996, with service sometimes out for hours, and the mobile signal was weak. The parking lot was too small and wasn't cleared of snow, so getting in and out was a challenge. Snow was also left uncleared outside, where it turned to ice and made the entrance and exit difficult every day. The only coffee included at breakfast was the worst, lowest-quality instant coffee imaginable. Real coffee cost extra at the bar. Dinner came late, around 8 or 8:30 p.m., well past my children's bedtime. The TV was small, 17 inches, and only had Italian channels. We could hear bar music, karaoke and the DJ shouting into the microphone in our room every night until 11 p.m. They couldn't move us when we asked. I left my laptop charger in the room, checked out, and called five hours later, but they said it was gone. They couldn't properly cater for vegetarians, there was no disabled access into the hotel, and the nearest pharmacy or hospital was a 45-minute drive away.
