Villa Silvana

The rooms have a beautiful view, but they're small and have no air conditioning. Both windows, in the bedroom and bathroom, face shared passageways, especially the bathroom window. There are only solid wooden shutters, no curtains, so you either give up privacy or keep them shut and feel boxed in and stuffy. With the summer heat, the ceiling fan wasn't enough for us. The staff also weren't very friendly and sometimes seemed annoyed.

The location is charming, which makes it a shame the property needs more attention. When I came back after a few years, the apartment we'd booked wasn't clean or well maintained, and the pool and common areas were unkempt. The staff were only adequately courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good and varied, but dinner was expensive and unappetizing.

It was quiet and surrounded by greenery, with a beautiful view and courteous service. The food was good, though a bit expensive. The room, though, was scorching hot: the fan didn't work, and the two windows couldn't be opened without losing privacy. One was beside the main entrance, and the other opened onto the corridor to the other rooms, practically next to the bed. The sheets weren't clean, and the comforter had very visible stains. The bathroom was cramped, with everything squeezed together, and the shower wasn't very clean. The tray edges were green.

We stayed in a wooden room, one of the small, cozy cubicles, and there was little privacy since we could hear everything in the neighboring rooms. The food was edible, but nothing more. The owner was grumpy, and a more welcoming manner would have made our stay better. The location itself was wonderful; beyond that, there was much to be desired.
