We paid £3100 for eight people through Airbnb, but on arrival the owner, Alice, said she wouldn’t honor the booking. She said the listed prices were old and staying would cost €5000. She was very rude, kept saying it wasn’t her problem, and practically pushed us onto the street while we tried to sort it out. Airbnb had to provide emergency help and has since removed the listing. The last genuine review seems to have been from quite a while ago, and now I can see why. Avoid this place.

The room would have been left empty because we couldn’t make the trip, and that seems like a lose-lose outcome. I made a booking mistake, and four minutes after the confirmation I asked the booking site to refund the second room. It cost me €400. The hotel replied, “Dear guest, Unfortunately we can’t cancel for free the no refundable rate”. They were legally and technically within their rights, but it still felt like a harsh response to a simple mistake. I keep wondering whether this is how they’d want to be treated themselves. If they’re proud of the guest house, wouldn’t they rather have someone stay and write about its beauty and hospitality than leave the room vacant? I was looking for hotels on Monday for a three-day family trip in July. I know I was booking a bit late, but Domus Dotti V Guest House looked lovely, and I wanted to show my family that evening so we could all agree. The site said there was one room left with two beds, which suited us. I was booking two rooms and saw a cancellation notice saying ten days from the booking date, so I went ahead. Only when the confirmation arrived did I notice the second room was non-refundable. That was my fault for not checking more carefully. Everyone makes mistakes. It feels awful, but being forgiven can mean a lot.

We booked through AirBnB in November 2022, apparently using an account belonging to a former employee. That person had stopped working there the following month, and the owners said they were dealing with an ongoing legal issue with them. When this left us in a difficult spot, the owners wouldn’t honor the original booking, even though the place was empty. They said it wasn’t their problem and offered it to us for a lot more money for the weekend. The owners were rude and unwilling to help. Something felt off, and with few recent reviews, many of them bad, I’d question booking here. There are nicer places in Treviso, so I’d look elsewhere.

We felt like we were in a Renaissance home, with old masters on the walls and huge chandeliers everywhere. The house is very large, privately owned, and run as a bed and breakfast. It has the feel of a stately home, and we half expected a butler to appear. Frederica made sure we were well looked after. You can even buy the best bathrobes ever for a bargain €360. You definitely won’t regret booking.
