Hotel Continental

Breakfast was poor, with few options and low quality, and the room smelled strongly of mold. The AC was dusty, noisy, and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The stay felt more like a hostel than a hotel. It may have been a 4-star place in the 1970s, but now it barely merits 2. It was disappointing, and it needs serious renovation and better management to meet even basic expectations.

The staff were friendly, especially the young woman who welcomed us both at reception and at the bar. Our room was clean, and it was convenient to park nearby. The hotel is close to the city center and railway station. I recommend it.

The room was clean, and the service was great. It started raining while we were out for dinner, so the gentleman at reception ran outside to bring us two umbrellas.

The weak WiFi barely seemed to exist, and breakfast was disappointing, mostly cheap food that just filled you up. The room was much smaller than the photos suggested, one light didn’t work, there was no bathtub as advertised, and instead of one bed I got two separate singles. It felt like a dorm room and left me feeling misled. I booked the Continental Hotel based on its pictures and description, and what I found was completely different. I felt it was a scam, and I’d strongly warn others against booking it. The older man with lots of grey hair at the front desk was no help and tried to humiliate me. When I asked for clarification, he seemed to be hiding documents from me. The room and his attitude ruined my mood for traveling to Venice. I hope Booking.com investigates this listing. Be careful, you deserve better.
