Hotel Miramare - Adults Only

We accidentally booked the hotel for the week after our intended visit. When we arrived, we saw it was being renovated, realized our mistake, and emailed to ask if the reservation could be canceled while we urgently looked for somewhere else to stay. No one replied. Six days later, the day before the reservation, we contacted them again and were dismissively told to contact Booking, which seemed unrealistic so close to arrival. Another email went unanswered too. Eventually we reached a receptionist by phone who was very rude and insisted no emails had come in. That was hard to believe as I read out the exact address we had used, info@hotelmiramaretrieste.it. It clearly includes “Trieste,” yet I was told it supposedly belonged to a hotel in Naples. We weren't asking for a refund. We planned to travel through Trieste again the next month and simply wanted to explain that and ask if they might offer some consideration, like a small discount or adjustment on a future stay. The receptionist's dismissive manner made a reasonable conversation impossible, and we weren't even allowed to explain properly.

We were impressed beyond our expectations and will definitely return. The buffet breakfast had everything we could want, and eggs cooked any way we liked and coffee were included in the room price. Staff were very friendly and helpful, always trying to sort out any request. The sea view was wonderful from the balcony, the bed, and even the bathroom.

A calm hotel right on the seafront, with good rooms, nice people, and an excellent breakfast.

The hotel is in a great spot, with a high frequency bus stop nearby for getting to the city centre. Miramar castle is close too and worth a visit. A few meters from the door there's a concrete “beach” with steps down into the water and showers along the side. My room was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Before I even asked, they offered me towels for swimming in the sea and an umbrella when it rained. Breakfast was varied and good. The big door opened onto a balcony facing the sea, with just a road, palm trees, and sidewalk in between. The room felt dated and the furniture was worn. The bed was almost on the floor, there was no outlet beside it, and I couldn't switch off the lights while lying down.
