Ostello Tergeste

We come back often, and it really feels like our home by the sea. The location is fantastic, with Castello Miramare within walking distance, and we love the rooms and generous breakfast. In summer it can get hot since there’s no air conditioning. If we arrive early, we can usually find free parking nearby.

The views over the rocky shore were gorgeous, and the castle is only a short distance away, with Trieste's tourist spots not far either. I felt safe here, which made it easy to relax. The place was beautiful, very clean, and breakfast was included. I liked it so much that I'm thinking about returning to this lovely hostel.

The sea is right in front of the hostel, and the house and terrace are lovely. It also seems to be among the cheapest hostels around. But the shore isn't a sandy beach, it's big rocks, concrete, and a promenade. We booked three nights, had to switch rooms after the first, and then had no room for four hours on day two. The rooms vary a lot in quality, and breakfast is included but very basic. WiFi only works right by reception. We could have put up with those problems if the staff had been pleasant. Instead, they were extremely unfriendly, unwelcoming, and seemed unable to handle even basic service. We also found it hard to get affordable food nearby.
