Rio Farneto B&B

The price was far too high for a place like this. We got there after spending half an hour driving around trying to find the house. It’s on a very narrow street, with hardly any parking out front, and our room still wasn’t ready when we arrived. The owner welcomed us with a “mangy” dog that jumped on the sofa and then straight onto our bed before realizing it was ours. We had to pay on arrival. Later, after a walk downtown, we tried to shower and found red water coming from every tap in the house. We put off showering until after dinner. On the way to the restaurant, the owner called and accused us of clogging the toilet, though we hadn’t used it at all. She even asked if we’d thrown away sanitary pads, then said, “Now we don't even have a toilet anymore.” We got out of there at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. The owner called to ask why we didn’t want breakfast. We explained all of this and asked us not to write a review.

I can’t give less than one star, though that’s what I’d have liked to do. The place was difficult to find, with no directions or signs. I’d booked through Booking.com and asked to arrive at 3:00 PM instead of 3:30 PM; they agreed. But when I got there, nobody answered the knock or the two calls I made. There isn’t even a doorbell. After waiting half an hour, I tried Booking.com customer service, but got no answer there either. Luckily, they found me another property. I can’t say anything about the rooms or staff, but the exterior speaks for itself.

Guests can park downstairs if they’re willing to take the chance. There’s also plenty of room in the lot on the road above. The host was friendly, always ready to help, and had lots of tips. A great place.

Booking before seeing it felt like another one of those rip-offs. I didn’t like the place at all.
