Breakfast was decent for Italy, though Americans and English visitors might find it limited. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean, and the deluxe room was the largest I've seen in Europe, with a reasonably sized shower and bathroom. It's centrally located near the square and not far from either the beach or marina. The price is very reasonable for the amenities and service.

Domenico at the front desk was really helpful and nice, and we loved the lobby decor. Our room was clean and beautiful. The hotel is close enough to Tropea's center that we didn't need to drive, while still being far enough away to avoid the noise. We loved our stay.

The rooms and location were quite OK, but I don't think the hotel meets the level I'd expect from a four-star place. It feels like a big chain and has very little personal touch. When we asked the cleaner to come back in five minutes because we were getting ready to leave, she couldn't do that at all. The breakfast room is also cramped for a hotel this size, with no relaxed holiday atmosphere. It's neither a great hotel nor a terrible one.

The staff were the real highlight, everyone was helpful and friendly. Our room felt like a private oasis after a day out: spotless, spacious, and tastefully decorated. The plush bed made for a restful night, and the luxurious bathroom felt like a spa. I'd highly recommend Hotel Colomba D’oro.
