The friendliest service was the best part of our stay. Manuel took wonderful care of us and clearly takes pride in the resort and his family business. The original structure is his grandmother’s house, now used to serve breakfast each morning, a lovely blend of family heritage and modern comforts. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with day beds under palm trees and seating spots around the property. The gorgeous pool has a small lunch menu and bar available through the day, chill music, and very friendly service. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and modern. We had three rooms, and #13 was the best, with a sea view, a very large patio, lounge chairs, and a seating area. This resort was a wonderful break from busy Tropea. We moved here after our original accommodations in town didn’t work out, and we were so glad we did. My only regret is finding the place at the end of our trip and staying just one night. I hope to come back for longer someday.

Our family loved the two rooms, which had a lovely view over the pool and the ocean beyond. Breakfast was another highlight, freshly made by the owners each morning, so tasty and comforting that we savored every bite. After traveling extensively, I can say this Calabria hotel feels like a hidden gem. Being family-owned and operated brings a special warmth and quality to the hospitality that’s rare to find. We fell in love with Calabria, and this hotel was a big part of that. We’re already planning to return for a longer stay. A heartfelt thank you for making our family feel so welcome and cared for!

Sorry, but our experience was a no-go. The pictures show the disgusting reality we faced right after check-in. We lost three hours of our holiday and had a lot of stress because of this hotel. The website photos look like a completely different place. When we arrived, it was already clear that the property wasn’t maintained. We had to carry all our luggage down a mountain to a room that felt more like a camping apartment than a five-star hotel. Then we found hair and dirt from previous guests all over the room. I think the pictures say enough. The breakfast area had no shade, and we would have melted in the sun, so we checked out just 15 minutes later. The only good thing was that they let us cancel the booking. I can’t recommend the place. I have no idea how they get five stars. These days it feels like a lot of reviews are fake or bought. There’s no restaurant in the hotel and no room service, and reception closes at 8 pm. Really? A five-star hotel should have 24/7 room service, a 24/7 reception, and luggage service. This felt like a two-star hotel.

Il Borghetto is a romantic, quiet resort close to the ancient, lively town of Tropea. The city center, harbour, and beach are about 20 minutes away by car or taxi. We had a very good, relaxing stay, with friendly and helpful people throughout the resort. The garden is beautiful, with tidy paths and colourful oleander and bougainvillea in the borders. The pool is large, clean, and lovely, with a quiet bar. Our modern room was clean and lovely, and the air conditioning worked very well. We hope to visit again in the future.
