Hotel Alpi Resort

We got an apartment rather than a room, with a large living room, bedroom and kitchenette, high ceilings, AC in both rooms, and a typical Italian balcony. It’s centrally located in an old building, so be aware you may need the stairs. The elevator didn’t work for us. Breakfast was nice, with good coffee and both sweet and savory treats. Parking was almost impossible because the spaces are made for a Fiat 500, with no room to maneuver. They also have a notice saying they aren’t responsible for damage to cars in the parking area, since the spaces are within regulations. I liked the shower amenities, and the rest of the bathroom was really clean, but the shower itself needs a thorough cleaning or new grout.

The staff were fantastic, and the location is great for a visit to Turin. I’d recommend it.

Parking can take some work. If you don’t want to pay extra to park, be ready to hunt for a spot. Torino is a big city with plenty of residents as well as visitors, so you can imagine what to expect. The hotel itself is good value, right in the centre near the Po river. The room was small but comfortable and functional, with its own facilities, and it’s a welcoming place with a decent breakfast to get the day started.

Our first-floor apartment had a huge living and sleeping area facing the street and tram track, plus a separate kitchen, dining and study space with a good bathroom. There were big windows, lots of open hanging space, vast sofas and two TVs. The coat hangers were a random bunch, and the kitchen tap wobbled, but it was spotless throughout and the bed was comfortable and modern. If you get sent to the sofa for snoring, there’s plenty of room, even if you’re eight feet tall. The hotel is central, near the University, and has a charming, slightly quirky feel, with a mix of rooms and apartments. The staff are lovely. Breakfast is Italian-style in a cramped room with mismatched furniture and cutlery, but if cake in the morning suits you and you don’t need everything uniform or Zen-calm, you’ll be fine. There’s fresh coffee, fruit and nice natural yoghurt. Some reviews mention the narrow courtyard entrance and noise. A fire engine could get through the gateway without any trouble. We could hear trams and people talking outside, but it didn’t bother us or wake us, even though my wife is a very light sleeper. It felt like a typical city-centre hotel, and quieter than many. This isn’t a standard four-star kind of place, and that’s part of its character. Comfortable and memorable.
