The Halloween breakfast was homemade and tasty, and you could see the effort that went into it. There was a good choice at the buffet, though I only took photos of the Halloween display. The room was comfortable and well lit, and the hotel had a cosy shared area with a piano. Some rooms could use an update. We stayed one night in lovely Turin and could walk to most places, including a 15-20 minute walk to Porta Nuova station. I’d recommend it and would come back. While in town, check out the cinema museum.

The location is the one real plus, about 20 minutes from the city center and close to the train station. Breakfast was poor, with expired meat served several days in a row, though the coffee was amazing. The hotel doesn't feel like a 4-star place: the rooms weren't cleaned well, and staff were often unfriendly and rarely spoke English. There was no water in the room unless you asked, and sometimes they hinted that it might cost extra.

The location worked out okay since Turin is so flat, and the 40-minute walk to the more central area wasn't a problem. The room itself was just decent, and we were on the first floor. I wondered whether we were treated differently from other guests, or if the lack of service was because we'd booked through Booking. There was no phone in the room and nothing in the minibar, despite the booklet listing what the hotel provided. I knew the room was affordable, so I'm not sure what I expected, but for a 4-star hotel I thought there'd be some kind of service. I don't know if I'd come back.

I’ve travelled often and this is the first time I’ve felt I had to leave a negative review. Our night at Art Hotel Boston was cold enough that we had to sleep in thermal clothes, under an extra blanket from the room, and still weren’t warm. We woke up feeling under the weather. The air conditioning was set to 30 C, but its heating didn’t work, and the bathroom radiator was broken too. When we told reception late in the evening, they brought us a small air heater. For a 4-star hotel, I expected to be able to spend a comfortable night. The other problems might have been easier to overlook on their own. The two mattresses were pushed together instead of making a proper double bed, and the shower was broken with a leaking hose. But after sleeping in the cold, those issues were hard to ignore. In Turin, with so much hotel competition and 3-star places where you can find warm rooms, I found this completely unacceptable. I don’t recommend staying here. If your room is cold in winter, ask reception for one that’s properly heated, or consider moving to another hotel if you don’t want to wake up freezing in the night. I hope the management at Art Hotel Boston improves how it looks after customers, from arrival through to handling problems during the stay.

The reception staff were all welcoming, professional and very good, but management really needs to deal with hotel maintenance. The elevator was broken for all three nights we stayed, and the fridge didn't work. The room was almost bare, with just sheets on the beds and no duvets. There was dust everywhere, enough to see it in the air, and our feet got dirty walking around. Only the TV socket worked. The bedside table was broken and wobbly too. The breakfast area looked untidy and the food was poor. The pictures on Booking.com made everything look beautiful, but didn't reflect what we actually found. For a place rated 4 stars, this felt like a maximum of 2.
