Hotel Astor

The staff are the highlight, really good and helpful, and they speak good English. Breakfast is good too, with really nice Italian coffee. The price is another plus, and there’s an elevator. Street noise wasn’t an issue in the evening, and several bus lines stop literally on the corners, so getting to the centre takes about 15-20 minutes. The hotel is a bit far from the centre, though that may just be personal preference. The decor and furniture are a bit dated, and the place wasn’t spotless, but they do clean the rooms and change towels daily unless you put out the DoNotDisturb card. The AC works, though it could perform better. Our room had a slight cigarette smell, though I’m not sure how, since smoking was forbidden throughout the hotel. The walls seemed thin, but maybe we just had naturally loud neighbours. They provide soaps, towels and shower caps. I’d recommend it, even with children, especially if you’ll mostly just be in the room at night on holiday.
