Hotel Residence Torino Centro

Our suite was the best part: a king-size bed, sofa, coffee table, dining area, big bathroom with a bath and shower, and an entry space for luggage. The balcony looked onto a quiet residential area. We liked it enough to ask for the same suite on our return, and were delighted to get it again. The hotel worked perfectly for a stop on the way to Florence, especially because it's right by Porta Susa station. We can't really comment on getting to the city centre. Breakfast had a good range of food in a bright, airy room, and reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. They even sorted out a kettle when we asked. The lobby and reception area looked a bit cheap, untidy, and tacky at first, but the rest of the building was quite different. Keep in mind there can be train noise because the station is so close, and rooms at the front may be noisier. We'd definitely stay again.

The room was clean, huge, and really nice, with French doors you could open for some cool air. It looked over a small courtyard toward what seemed to be an apartment building, and was so far from the lobby and elevator that I actually liked the walk. It was also close to the train and metro stations. We only booked at the last minute because train delays meant we arrived much too late to carry on to the next city. At the front desk, check-in kept getting interrupted so staff could help people on the phone or already checked in, which was frustrating late at night when we just wanted to sleep. Still, we got an upgraded room, and I'd absolutely stay here again.

If you want a clean, handy place with friendly staff, this is a solid option. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, even if they feel a little dated, and I liked the traditional decor. It's fantastic for train travel: we came from the airport to Porta Susa, and the hotel is right beside the station entrance. It took us about a minute to reach the platform, which was ideal with an early flight. Just don't expect a trendy hotel. Great value for the money.

Faultless stay. I was especially glad they let me leave my luggage for a few hours after checkout.
