Hotel Turin Royal

The room itself was okay, but at this price I can't recommend the hotel. It's noisy on a street with a tram, and the window only opens partway. Parking is available, though costly at 19€ per day. The staff were friendly, but there were several problems on arrival: the air conditioning didn't work, the safe was locked, and the TV remote was missing. I called twice, then waited an hour and a half for someone to come. They only brought the remote, which took about another hour and another call to reception. The air conditioning still wasn't working, so all they gave us was one ventilator. The janitor said he'd return but didn't show up after another half hour, and reception said they couldn't open the safe and he couldn't fix it. The shower drains very slowly, and the shower head is broken. I don't know yet about the room service or breakfast, but based on this experience the hotel isn't worth four stars, or even a recommendation.

The rooms felt cramped and unwelcoming, with worn, old furniture, and there was visible dirt and grime around the hotel. The place looks tired and outdated. Getting around was frustrating too: it's far from central Turin, with no metro station within walking distance. Reaching the nearest metro meant at least 30 minutes figuring out confusing bus and tram routes, and a taxi back from the centre cost at least 20 euros. I'd look elsewhere for a more convenient and enjoyable stay. The name Hotel Royal Torino doesn't make it feel royal.

The breakfast was okay, and the breakfast staff were genuinely kind. The rest of our stay was rough. In room 514, the air conditioning never got fixed, even though we were told it would be repaired the next day. They said the hotel was full, so another room wasn't available. We stayed five nights, from 15 July to 20 July, through terrible heat that made sleeping very difficult. There was a fan in the room when we arrived, which I only later understood. Some outlets didn't work either, the bathroom smelled really bad, and the small fridge barely cooled anything. This hotel doesn't deserve its 4 stars.

The room was okay, but the door creaked and one of the bed sheets had a big hole in it. We were also caught off guard in the morning when we found out breakfast wasn't included. Nobody had told us beforehand, and clearer communication when we booked would've helped. We left unhappy.
