Idea Hotel Torino Mirafiori

The hotel was good for the price, though it takes 40 minutes to an hour to get to Turin Center each day. There are several ways to get there: a bus stop right outside, more lines a block away, and parking if you have a car. There’s also a supermarket next door. The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting on its own, which wasn’t great. We arrived before check-in, tired, and the staff kindly let us have breakfast for 7€ each and get into a room early. The service was amazing. They were also happy to bring me a plate, glasses, and salt. The breakfast was good, apart from the eggs. Our room was nice, and the bathroom was clean, well equipped, and had a shower, toilet, bidet, hair dryer, toiletries, and towels that were changed every day. The room was cleaned daily, too. The housekeepers were thoughtful: one day we slept in, and even though their shift was over, they still checked if we needed towels or anything. The pillows were a bit uncomfortable. I didn’t ask for another, but I think they would have helped if I had.

For a one-night, last-minute booking, I appreciated that they had a room available. We didn’t raise the problems with staff because it was only one night and complaining didn’t seem worth our time. Anyone staying longer should know the room was in awful condition. The carpet had cigarette burns, the walls were stained and mouldy, and there was mould in the shower. It was obvious it hadn’t been properly cleaned for a long time. The nightstands were sticky, the remote had no batteries, and the room felt unpleasant. There was no hand soap, only two tiny shower gel bottles, barely enough for hands and body, though luckily we brought our own. The reception staff were attentive and professional, and spoke fluent English. Breakfast was pretty good, especially the pastries, with a great continental selection. The location isn’t ideal for walking around town, but the 55 station is 20m away. It was just barely acceptable for an overnight stay or as a last resort.

For the low price, especially booking just one day ahead, I was happy with my choice. The rooms were clean, tidy, and excellent value, with easy access. Breakfast was included with my booking and had just about everything you could think of. The Wi-Fi was free, as it is at all hotels. A few things might bother some people: you have to leave your room key at reception whenever you go out, though reception is open 24 hours. It’s 30 minutes from the city center by bus 58 or 55. The main carpet outside the room looks a bit dated, and the shower cabin is partly open, though closing the bathroom door should keep things fine. For me it was a 9/10 stay, as long as you’re okay with those details. Hope you’ll be happy with it too.

The staff were okay, and the ladies working at breakfast and reception were very nice, though they hardly spoke English. The bus stop is right by the hotel, so coming back late didn’t feel too scary. I wouldn’t walk from the center to the hotel in the evening, but in the morning we walked from the hotel to central Turin, which took about 1,5 hour. The neighborhood was dirty, with lots of trash and a smell of pee all around, and the hotel sits right in the middle of it. In our room, the sheets seemed clean, but the toilet was dirty from someone else’s poop and the chair had a large white stain. We stayed two nights, which was okay for the budget, but I’d choose somewhere better for a longer visit.
