Santa Giulia Hotel e Residence

There are lots of good restaurants nearby, and pets are welcome for an extra fee. The location is very good, almost excellent, about a 10-15 minute walk to Mole and the city center. Parking is very hard to find if you come by car. The rooms felt basic and dated, less than I expected, though fine for one night. Breakfast was very good.

At €144 for one person for a night, I found the price excessive. The room was 27° and much too hot. There was a broom and dustpan, as if I was supposed to use them, and the bathroom door frame and skirting board looked rotten and ready to fall apart. No one helped with luggage or showed me to the room. There was no kettle or room amenities, and just one power socket by the bed, so I had to choose between the little light and charging my phone. My stay wasn't as good as other people's.

The apartment had plenty of room and came with a sofa, bed, wardrobe, kitchenette, TV, small extendable dining table, air conditioning, balcony, and a large separate bathroom with a bidet and bathtub. It also had everything needed for cooking. Check-in was quick, and the staff spoke English well, which helped since my Italian is terrible. I booked for two nights in July and absolutely loved it. For the price, I think it's one of the best hotels you could stay in.

Breakfast and the outdoor dining were fantastic, with hot dishes, cheese, croissants, cereal, granola, yogurt, and proper Italian coffees. The staff were great and clearly run things well. There were lots of families staying here, and I thought it was good value for money. The family room with a pullout couch was spacious and had a good range of kitchen supplies, but the air conditioning was weak on a hot July night, with only a fan in the front room. We all struggled to sleep. The Mole is about a 10-minute walk away, and other parts of Centro take 20-30 minutes. That felt reasonable in mild weather, though the walks were harder during the heatwave. After four nights, I think this could have been a five-star stay if it weren't so hot.
