Quo Vadis

My single room had enough facilities for a short stay and was clean, which is a plus since plenty of hotel rooms aren't. The shower had good pressure, and the water could get scalding hot if you turned it up that far. Breakfast was decent, with machine coffee, a nice pastry selection, and continental meats and other options. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Marianna made a great first impression, a lovely person to have at the front of the house, and the other women were just as helpful. Parking was good, though the €6 a day charge caught me off guard. I suppose that's part of being close to the town center. I'd stay again. I enjoyed my time there and have no complaints.

Last week I came with some customers and had bought three rooms for different lengths of stay. Two of the rooms had no air conditioning. Before I arrived, I couldn't stay on an earlier date and contacted the hotel before 4:00 p.m., but they still wanted to charge me under their two-day cancellation policy. I thought that was unacceptable, but let it go. I arrived Wednesday and had an awful night. The wall between my room and the neighboring one was very thin, and they watched TV all night. My room had no AC, and opening the window to cool it made things worse because of the train outside. The next morning, which was the second of five planned nights, I tried to check out. They had already charged my credit card and refused to refund any of my money. I ended up paying for all five nights after sleeping just one, even though they shouldn't have charged for nights four and five. Issuing a credit isn't difficult, but they weren't willing to do it. That's no way to treat customers, and I strongly recommend finding one of the better options in the city, for the same or not much more money. Before the billing problem, they offered to move me to a room with air conditioning. I said that wouldn't work because I was returning in a few days with more clients. Since two of our three rooms lacked AC, I'm sure some of them would've been in rooms without it too. It seems air conditioning isn't common there.

The price felt fair, and the hotel is close to the center with friendly staff. Breakfast was a bit limited, with no vegetables, and the croissants seemed frozen rather than fresh. I also noticed cobwebs in reception and in our room, so it could have been cleaner.

I had a really nice five-day stay. It’s a small, cozy hotel, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
