I finally stayed at Castello di Ugento in October 2025, after first visiting for dinner in 2022 and thinking it would be a lovely place to stay. We spent a few days there, and it was a very pleasant experience. The garden, which I loved on my first visit, is still a highlight and a lovely spot to unwind at any time. Inside the walls, the calm and character of the Castello make it feel separate from the town around it. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well kept. The staff were friendly and attentive without overdoing it, and made everything easy. I’m glad I came back to stay, not just for dinner.

Our guests were delighted, and this hotel was the perfect place for our wedding. The setting was beautiful, with comfortable, clean rooms and a warm, elegant atmosphere. Mrs. Roberta, the manager, deserves a special mention. She made us feel at ease from the start and was so kind, attentive, and professional. We stayed in the Pellicano room, which was beautiful, and the courtyard and public spaces were spotless. We knew the castle had only recently reopened after technical problems earlier in the summer, so we weren’t expecting full service. But the staff were there for everything, from shuttle requests to a beach taxi at a moment’s notice, and breakfast was generous and varied. We were pleasantly surprised by the team’s professionalism and kindness in the circumstances, especially Roberta and her team. 5* Thank you!

The meals were a real highlight, with seasonal dishes thoughtfully prepared and presented, and wonderful flavors. Our comfortable room was beautifully decorated, and the gardens and shared spaces were great places to relax. The castle is stunning, full of history and charm, with breathtaking views of Puglia. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel at home and took care of every detail. Everyone we met went above and beyond, helping us explore the region and arrange activities, always with a smile. An unforgettable stay. For a luxurious, authentic, magical visit to Puglia, Castello di Ugento is the place to be. We can’t wait to return!

The town of Ugento was charming and very quiet, at least while we were there, so come ready to relax or bring your own entertainment. We loved the recommendations from the staff, especially the boat trip they arranged to see the caves around Sta. Maria de Leuca. The beds were the most comfortable of anywhere we stayed on our Puglia road trip, and breakfast was absolutely delicious. The staff were willing to go above and beyond to make our stay a 10+.
