Hotel San Carlo

The hotel staff were friendly and happy to help, and there’s a large games room with a pool table, which was a nice extra. Our dinner table looked out at spectacular mountains, and the valley views from the hotel are beautiful. The rooms were very clean, with modern bathrooms and a bar fridge. I was disappointed there was no kettle, although I know kettles and coffee aren’t generally expected in Italy. Dinner was fine, I had rosemary chicken with vegetables. A good stay overall.

I’m glad I stumbled on this gem. The breakfast was great, and Melany at reception was lovely when I checked in. She even let me practise my Italian with her. The rooms had great views and thoughtful details like a charging hub, and the property was tastefully finished and pleasant to spend time in. The laundry and spa have limited hours, though, so we couldn’t use either. There’s also EV charging and plenty of parking.

The views are stunning, and after a long drive it was nice to unwind at the health club. We stayed with family for about two days, and the property was easy to reach from the main roads, around 30-45 minutes from Stelvio pass. Free off-street and private parking are available, with electric vehicle charging too. The front desk was friendly, quick to answer questions, and gave clear check-in and check-out instructions, plus suggestions for nearby places and trails. Breakfast had a very good spread, though the service could be a little better. Still, I have no real complaint. Recommended for a family stay.

The rooms are spacious and fresh, and the food was good with a nice range of vegetarian choices. My stay was marred by the cleaner moving my belongings. I left my glasses in the bathroom and found them on the desk by the TV when I got back. My candy bars were also taken, and another person had some money stolen. I don't know whether the hotel is aware, but they should be.
