La Villa Del Lago

We booked a room advertised with a lake view, but got a tiny attic room instead, with a small window and a strong damp, moldy smell. Noise from the other rooms came through clearly, as if there were no sound insulation. During the night, a bug fell from the ceiling into my ear. It was extremely disturbing. They also charged an extra €20 for my dog, even though it’s well behaved, doesn’t bark, and caused no damage. This was one of my worst hotel experiences. Very disappointing and absolutely not worth the money. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The man at the restaurant who answers the calls was quite rude. I don’t think I said anything bad or rude, but he ruined my day. I hope he won’t be able to work in that beautiful place, because he doesn’t deserve to be there. I can’t understand how people can act like that in such calm places.

Villa del Lago in Ghirla was a fantastic place for our group. We stayed eight days with 15 people and two small children, and had plenty of room. The property is stunning, and the conservatory and lakeside pool made the holiday even better. Fatima was easy to communicate with and happily met all our requests. The trattoria within walking distance was delicious. We went three times and were delighted with the food. Well done to the kitchen and pizza chef! The busy road between the villa and the lake has no sidewalk, and the WiFi at the villa didn’t work. Still, being offline made it easier to put away our phones and laptops, so it wasn’t a big deal. We’d definitely return and strongly recommend Villa del Lago in Ghirla.

The pool was heaven to dive into, even though the skimmer wasn’t working properly. The road in front was a bit noisy, and air conditioning would have made the place perfect. The staff were incredibly nice, including the cleaning ladies.
