Hotel Bel Sit

Don’t let the three-star rating put you off. The service, food, and views all felt five-star. We were about 35 minutes from very expensive Cortina, but still within reach of everything we wanted to see. The staff were incredibly attentive: Booking.com hadn’t passed on our request for a double room with two single beds, but they switched us without any fuss while we had lunch. The food was extraordinary, beautifully plated and delicious, better than anything we tried in tourist-trap Cortina. Our only downside was no air-con in the mountain-facing room in summer. At night, opening the balcony door cooled it enough. I’d definitely stay here.

There’s plenty of parking in front of the hotel. It’s in a really good spot for hiking, cycling, or skiing, and they serve traditional local food at breakfast and in the restaurant. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The staff were very friendly and helped us during our stay. Our room was neat and clean, and we really enjoyed the Italian-style breakfast. The hotel is in Valle Di Cadore, with spectacular Dolomites views and fresh air that makes you feel renewed.

The room was cold, and the heaters were blocked. Sound insulation between rooms was almost nonexistent. I could hear a man on a 30-minute call with, I suppose, his wife. The view was okay, nothing special. The restaurants were unrealistically expensive, with pizza starting at 10 euros, and it was just pizza, not even Neapolitan. The local dishes were nothing special either, and expensive. When we arrived at 14:00, reception didn’t tell us the kitchen was closing, so at 14:30 we had to eat what was left from lunch. In general, the staff seemed absent and not very interested in helping guests.
