Tucked away in the mountains, this is a lovely secluded spot. The rooms are beautiful, the staff are great, and the food and drinks are amazing. The setting itself is beautiful too.

The food was fantastic, and the service was outstanding. There’s so much history around here, yet it’s only minutes away, and even fewer kilometers, from the bustle of Mount Garda. Everything about the place was beautiful, and it’s absolutely worth a visit. 10 out of 10.

Expect a peaceful half-day in the valley, with good value and excellent local food. The Valvestino beans were fantastic, and the Tombea cheese was amazing. Since the osteria is genuinely tucked away in the mountains of the Vestino Valley, you really have to seek it out; you won’t just stumble across it. After lunch, a walk is a good idea. Go up to Ponte Franato, continue to Armo and Turano, then return to Moerna along the old road and head back to Piedimonte. It’s three lovely hours in the quiet of the valley, followed by the peaceful osteria, true to its name and in every sense.

The journey is worth every mile. Deep in the mountains of the Lake Garda hinterland, there’s an extraordinary osteria in a small mountain village. The food feels traditional, and the polenta is the best.
