Villa Borghi

We keep coming back and usually stay two or three nights. The historic rooms in the villa are spacious and stylish, and we love the grounds and their big garden. The villa also houses reception and the O’Lac restaurant. We’ve also tried the annex, “Il Borghi.” Its rooms are generally even bigger, modern, functional, and cheaper, but the building itself isn’t our taste, especially the hallways and breakfast room. We understand why the hotel needs more affordable rooms, since the property suits weddings and celebrations so well. Breakfast hasn’t quite met our expectations in every respect. A little more attention to detail could improve it. There are two restaurants: “La Scuderia” is a simple, cozy place for pizza and pasta, popular with locals, usually busy, and reasonably priced. We like both restaurants, but we’d eat at O’Lac more often if the food matched the price. We’ve had excellent meals there and been delighted, though lately the opposite has happened more often. The kitchen could use a bit more imagination and enthusiasm. Still, we’ll book a table again in advance for our next overnight stay. We’re already looking forward to it, and send warm regards from Switzerland.

We knew the spa was meant to be a quiet area, but nobody told us that talking could mean an extra charge. We only found out when we were charged at checkout, with no warning beforehand. That’s not an acceptable way to treat guests, and we left very disappointed with how the hotel handled our spa visit.

The room was a little basic, but the hotel is lovely and the location is fantastic. Staff were friendly enough. Overall, a good stay :)

There’s a restaurant next door, and the hotel has a wellness center. The villa itself is beautiful and grand, with lots of charm. Our room was huge, and the bathroom was just as spacious.
