Pensione Serenetta

We chose this place at first because of the price and a late booking, but don’t let its one star fool you. It was a very pleasant stay. Michele welcomed us and helped with anything we needed. He said his English wasn’t very good, but he made every effort and did well. He also speaks Italian and German; I would’ve liked to practice if English hadn’t been so convenient. Michele gave us lots of tips for getting around and skiing, a discount for entry to the Passo Lavaze cross-country skiing resort, and help finding good speck and pancetta at a nearby butchery. We also got a free ski-bus ticket for the whole stay, so we didn’t need to drive. The hotel is near several ski resorts, with a ski-bus stop almost outside, plus a coop supermarket and a post office nearby. Our room was cosy, clean, warm, and had a balcony overlooking the village. For an extra 12 EUR, we could get a homemade three-course dinner. It was always delicious and plentiful, sometimes more than we were used to eating so late. We ended up eating there every night instead of looking for somewhere else. The meals were mostly Italian, and Michele told us the day’s menu in the morning so we could decide whether to have it. Breakfast was lovely too, with fruit, ham, salami, cereals, eggs, and a choice of donut or croissant. They make their own yogurt with local milk, which was delicious. There’s also a bar where you can have a drink, play cards, browse an Italian fashion magazine, or chat with Michele. It felt like talking with an old friend.
