Casa Du Lac - by R Collection Hotels

My partner, our 7-month-old daughter, and I got COVID a week before our arrival. We were all very sick and had to cancel our vacation plans. We’d been excited about staying here, but the hotel showed no sympathy. They offered no partial refund or credit, just no refund at all, and we lost more than $1k. The customer service was horrible. I’ll never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Be careful.

We waited 40 minutes after sitting down, reservation and all, before we could order. Service was slow, and the meal was the worst we had around Lake Como. Everything was overpriced, cold, and didn’t taste good. None of us finished our plates. Save your money and skip this restaurant.

We had coffee, virgin mojitos, and snacks on the terrace with a stunning lake view. The staff were fantastic, and special thanks to Aneesa. I really loved the place and would highly recommend it.

The drinks were actually quite good, and the view makes the bar a good place for a drink. The restaurant, though, was a terrible experience. The steak was unseasoned, there was no salt or pepper on the table, and ketchup was the only sauce. The lobster was very chewy, the vegetables lacked seasoning, and the fries were the best thing we ordered. Starters were taken away before the main dish arrived. We shared our feedback and got a dessert as an apology, but it didn’t taste good either: tiramisu with only cream and chocolate, no biscuit. The place seems to aim for a higher grade of dining but lacks the experience to deliver. People come to Italy with expectations about the food, and whoever makes these decisions should rethink that. We didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the rooms.
