Villa Torretta

I booked through booking.com in November 2024 for a September 2025 stay. Less than three months before the trip, I contacted the hotel to ask about things to do around Varenna. They asked me to cancel through booking.com, which was the only way to book with them. I thought that was odd and said I didn’t want to cancel. They then cancelled it themselves, leaving me without a place to stay less than 90 days before my trip. Laura was extremely unprofessional and inhospitable. I’ve never been treated so badly by a hospitality company. I wish I could give them negative stars. Absolutely do not book.

Our room was perfect, with a beautiful view, and Laura, the owner, was the best. She made our stay wonderful, and I’d definitely recommend the place and come back next time I’m in Italy. It’s right across from the ferry, which made getting around really convenient. There are lots of places to eat nearby, and the scenery is beautiful.

We enjoyed aperitivo in the front garden overlooking the lake and boats, with local wine, cheese, and charcuterie we bought from a nearby butcher. The villa is full of incredible art and felt like staying in a museum. Our room was comfortable, and we had everything we needed. It’s a beautiful villa with breathtaking views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains, close to both the train and ferry stations. Laura was a kind, friendly host who was available for local information or a chat. We’d definitely return and use it as a base for the Como region.

This was our second stay, and we’ll be back again. The host was great, the rooms spotless, the views amazing, and the location convenient. We had a wonderful time.
