Camping Village Grotta Del Saraceno

The toilets were spotlessly clean, and the pitches were well maintained. We spent two nights here in our campervan at the end of August. The campsite has a beautiful position overlooking the sea, but the beach is difficult to use because it's made up of large, slippery pebbles. There's hardly any natural shade. Artificial shading is provided and does the job, though it isn't very charming. We probably wouldn't return, but it could still suit other people.

It's 1:10 a.m. as I'm writing this, and I can't sleep. Booking a cabin here was a regret. If you like partying, it might be fine, but anyone hoping to relax should forget it. The party goes on all night, which is a disaster. I'm usually the sort to call the police about noise, but here I feel helpless. It seems to be treated as normal, but it's absolutely unacceptable. This is a campsite, not a nightclub. Why charge «club fees» if I can't sleep or feel relaxed? On top of that, you pay extra for everything, including bed linen, wi-fi, umbrella and subed. We paid for wi-fi, but had no signal near our bungalow. The cabin itself is more or less okay, but the kitchenette is tiny and missing a frying pan, a proper knife, dish soap, cutting board, kettle, and microwave. The mattress is uncomfortable, and with all the noise, sleep is unbearable. The pool and beach are nice, and the shops have a good selection.

We arrived in mid-June to an almost empty campsite and were disappointed from the start. Service was slow, and our pitch was far off-center, next to what looked like derelict caravans and near the very loud pool area. The pool closed at 19:00, earlier than the 21:00 closing time at most other facilities. We tried to make the best of it by going to the pool, but were turned away because we didn't have swimming caps. The staff didn't speak English, didn't give us caps, and couldn't tell us where to get any. A total bust. I wouldn't recommend visiting if you have a choice.

The dinner service was really bad at first. On day one, it took about an hour and a half to bring three slices of meat, and the waiter was sarcastic. The menu was very limited, just two dishes in each section. For €1,600, I expected a buffet or a real menu. Service did improve as the days went by, and the staff were helpful and kind overall, especially Massimiliano, who was very kind and helpful. The location was very nice, though I had expected a slightly nicer beach. A five-minute bus ride didn't make much difference.
