We had a spacious room with a lovely sea view from the balcony, and it was very clean. The whole hotel is exceptionally well maintained for a seaside place. We ate at the restaurant on our first night and enjoyed it. The location is ideal, beside the beach and the coastal walking and cycling path. You can easily walk to the centre of Vasto Marino, or even into Vasto’s centro storico. The area is wonderful too. The civic museum has lots of local archaeological finds and is well worth a visit, and the attached Neapolitan garden is beautiful.

The patio and playground are great for families, and the location is handy, close to the beach and centre of Vasto. I slept well and didn’t get bed bugs, so I’d give it 4/5. The rooms are cramped, with very small showers and too few power outlets. There’s a TV with over-the-air channels, and double and single beds. There aren’t many room amenities, though the other things about the hotel make up for some of that. I didn’t like the restaurant’s dinner. It seems suited to couples as well as families.

The main plus is how close the hotel is to the beach. The double room cost 120 EUR after the season, though the hotel looked like it hadn’t been renovated in years, with decor from the 1980s. Breakfast was a mixed bag. The croissants and plain yoghurt were good, but the coffee was just a brownish liquid with no coffee smell, so I drank water instead. I would have liked eggs as an option. Individually wrapped biscuits and muesli were there, though I’m not keen on either. I’d much rather have booked without breakfast.

A fresh, pleasant hotel right by the sandy beach, with excellent staff. Great value for the money.

We were warmly welcomed and treated very well. The room was comfortable and very clean, and there’s a good restaurant inside. Hotel Rio is very nice and has its own beach. I’d definitely recommend it.
