La Masseria

The beds were hard as rocks, the couches broken and uncomfortable, and basic things were missing from the rooms, even groceries like salt. There was no kettle or toaster, just a stove with a pan and a coffee machine. Some rooms had cutlery and utensils, others didn't. The only thing that helped was the washing machine in the tiny cupboard under the stairs, so I could wash the towels. We had no power for a full day because of planned maintenance in the area, but nobody warned us. The groceries we'd just bought spoiled in the fridge. The air conditioning didn't work either, with the systems out of gas and blowing room-temperature air. When we reported it, they blamed us. A technician was sent on the last day, far too late. We were charged an extra 30euro for more sheets and towels after arriving, despite having given them our numbers. They said information was missing and blamed us for their disorganization. Manager Matteo was rude, abrupt, and arrogant. We had to put the sheet on the bed ourselves, and were expected to use one towel for all six days. I'm not sure what a 15euro linen charge covers if I'm making the bed and washing my own towels. From beginning to end, this was unpleasant. The price should reflect the service, or lack of it. I could have stayed in a hostel for much less and received the same level of service. If I could give zero stars, I would.
