Le Dune Di Villa Diana

The only reason I’m giving one star is that the place is close to the beach. Even there, though, there’s no bar service or public toilet. The price was extremely high and nowhere near justified by what we got. I’d been promised a “nice” room over the phone, but ours wasn’t like that. The photos give a misleading impression of how clean and cared for the rooms are. I found dust and hairs when we arrived, and the headboard was very dirty, especially along its cream leather edges. The room was cramped, with hardly any space to move or put toiletries and bags. With the balcony door open, one side of the bed was blocked, and the floor dipped on the other side. The shower water kept swinging between too hot and too cold, so we had to adjust it by hand the whole time. When I raised it, I was told nobody had complained before, which made it feel as if they thought I was lying. They said they’d tell the cleaning lady. I happened to meet her the next morning, and she knew nothing about the problem, nor was she a plumber. The owners didn’t show any interest in our discomfort over the following days and acted as though nothing had happened. That lack of help surprised me after the good reviews I’d read. Later, I realized those reviews came from long-time customers, who would obviously get better or different treatment than we did. I’ve traveled a lot and met owners who were genuinely welcoming, available to everyone without playing favorites, and present in the property if anything came up. If that’s what you’re after, I’d advise you not to come here. I hope this helps even one person make a better choice for their holiday. I wish someone had warned me before I wasted time and money and came home unhappy.

We’re back for our third stay at Le Dune, and each visit has been better than the last. The villa sits right by the beach on a stretch that hasn’t been taken over by resorts, which makes the setting fantastic. Luigi and Barbara are attentive without hovering, and their good taste shows in both the rooms and the outdoor areas. Each of the six rooms has its own private outdoor Jacuzzi, and there are beautiful bicycles for guests to use. The rooms have every comfort, too. Breakfast is excellent, with generous portions and plenty of variety for different tastes. A truly high-end B&B, absolutely top-notch.

The owners are extremely kind and ready to help, and the place is so well cared for that it’s hard to find anything similar in Vasto with a sea view. Guests can use the lovely bicycles and the hot tub assigned to each room. There’s also a fridge with free cold drinks, plus an espresso machine upstairs on the first floor that guests can use whenever they like, at no charge. Definitely worth trying.

Only a few metres from the beach, with a path over the dunes to reach it, this is a lovely place to stay. The setting feels welcoming and elegant. The name includes “tailoring of hospitality,” and Barbara and Luigi live up to that, shaping a holiday to suit each guest like a pair of real tailors.
