The food is a real highlight, and the chef is lovely. Dinner was great, with some fantastic dishes. We’ve stayed here twice now and had a great experience both times. The host is so welcoming, the rooms are nice, and breakfast is phenomenal.

The prices seem very fair to me for the quality you get, and the service is kind and attentive. The chef’s wife is especially lovely and really tries to make your visit memorable. I don’t understand some of the negative reviews. If you’re after regional food with a bit of a kick, give it a try.

The wine list covers plenty of local Valpolicella, from affordable bottles to higher-end choices, and the short menu is interesting. We had three courses and a very good Ripossa, just over €100 for two. Our host also gave us a nicely printed magazine about the Lessinian mountain range with ideas for trips. We came from one of the winery hotels nearby. The restaurant is tucked into a corner of the main piazza, and you can park in either of the two large lots at the ends of the small town. We were warmly welcomed, and the staff speak very good English and some German. It’s popular with locals, so book ahead. Definitely worth a visit.

Ask what the local specialties are, they’re well worth ordering. The food is full of flavor, but still light, with a simple style that really works. A little hidden gem.
