Venice Rooms

We had a great stay and felt at home in a clean, comfortable room with a nice bed. The host was friendly and kept in touch. We don’t speak Italian and the host doesn’t speak English, but we still managed to communicate and had fun conversations. It’s easy to get to the bus station for visiting the attractions, and there’s a good sandwich place popular with locals nearby. Thank you! 🙏

As soon as we checked in, we noticed a strong cigarette smell, despite the room being listed as non-smoking. We messaged the property manager to ask for another room, but none was available. He offered to come deodorize it, which we declined because we’d already tried and the smell was still overpowering. We left and had to book somewhere else at the last minute during high season, which wasn’t cheap. The owner still wouldn’t acknowledge the smoke. We had booked two nights, but there was no way we’d have our three-year-old daughter sleep there. At our new place, I went to the booking site to cancel Venice Rooms. It offered either a 50% refund or a request to waive the cancellation fee. Given why we’d left, we asked for the fee to be waived. While the request was pending, we heard nothing. I also followed up by private message, since he’d seemed quicker to answer there before we arrived. He ignored those messages, then canceled the room himself. We lost all our money and couldn’t leave a review on that booking site. He wrote that we hadn’t shown up and had canceled, with a 100% fee charged. We appealed to the booking site, but it wouldn’t help, even though the cancellation was awaiting a reply through its online process and we’d sent two requests to resolve it. It felt like a dishonest way to avoid acknowledging our cancellation and the issue, while ensuring there’d be no refund, not even for the second night. A very sneaky way to take people’s money. We booked several other rooms on this trip and had no problems with the other hotels. This place is a disgrace. Don’t go. It seems they know they can get away with this because when they cancel the booking, you can’t leave a bad review on the site.

The rooms, service, and location were all outstanding. I highly recommend staying here.

The host was really friendly, and the room was clean and nice. The street gets a bit noisy.
