Agriturismo Tenuta Lagala

We were very disappointed by how this hotel handled our booking. I paid in advance in March for an August stay, then shortly before we were due to arrive, the owner said our room had to be cancelled because they had decided to rent the hotel to a wedding party. No one warned me when I booked that this might happen, or I would have reconsidered. They also kept our money for almost five months. The owner was unprofessional, and I would tell others to be cautious when booking here.

We stayed four nights in the "cherry" room at Tenuta Lagala in early March, during the off season. The vineyard scenery was lovely, and the wines and food were great. The restaurant deserves extra stars, the food was exquisite and really delicious. Excellent service and hospitality, five stars all around. You need a car to get there. Highly recommend this place to everyone. Grazie!

The rooms were spacious enough, cool, clean, and quiet, and breakfast came with scrambled eggs, a croissant, homemade cake, yogurt, coffee, Aglianico grape juice, and seasonal fruit. We spent much of our time by the pool, mostly on our own, and took an afternoon trip to Pietrapertosa/Castelmezzana. The evenings brought luxurious dinners and extraordinary wines. We loved the Angelica sparkling rosé and took three bottles home, and we also enjoyed the red wine Aquila del Vulture. The olive oil was so good that we brought a bottle home. Arnaldo and Angelica were kind, genuine, and full of useful information. An unforgettable few days in the Southern Italian countryside, and I hope to return.

The artisanal wines at Tenuta Lagala are the real highlight for wine lovers. Their beautiful vines produce a range of world class wines that are well worth discovering. The owners are kind, genuine, and informative, and have made this a wonderful place to escape for a few days in the Southern Italian countryside. Our room was cute and comfortable, and we ate very well at lunch and breakfast. It's a relaxing, elegant stay surrounded by Basilicata's beautiful nature, just a 2 minute drive from the lovely little town of Venosa. This region deserves more attention. We can't wait to return!
