Camping Roma

We came to Ventimiglia for a quick stop with our campingcar and ended up staying 5 days! The camping is right in the city, near the bridge over the river Roija that divides the city's west and east sides. Beaches and everything we needed were close by. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and service-minded. It's a tidy, clean site with the facilities you need, including bungalows, tent pitches, caravan and motorhome spaces with 6 amp hookups. We had no trouble with the city noise. Recommended!

For what it costs, I would have rather gone to Menton, where you get a perfect view and no strange people around. At 21 euro for a small tent, this campsite feels overpriced, and the surrounding area isn't so nice at night. Still, it's very clean, the toilets have toilet paper and soap, and the receptionist was very nice. It's a very good camping site if it were half the price. To be clear, my issue is the price and surroundings, not the staff or owner.

WARNING, unsafe. Last night a man climbed the ladder to our roof tent and woke us up. I had to kick him away and scream until my voice gave out to stop him getting inside. We saw two men running away from the campsite. Better to keep driving. The campsite itself is well maintained, and reception was very helpful. I feel sorry for the business because there are bad people in the area. I've asked the campsite to think about what happened and take steps to improve safety for future guests. I hope they do, so other guests can enjoy the site without fear.

We visited in October, out of season, so the restaurant on site was closed. The harbour and town centre are both about a ten-minute walk, depending on which side of the river you follow. The site is just over the French border, so it's a great place for that last, or first, plate of pasta. It's well run, spotless, and very well cared for. The gate closes from 7pm to 8am, which suits most people and keeps evening noise down. Highly recommended.
