LVG Hotel Collection - Belvedere San Gottardo

The location on the Main Street put plenty of decent restaurants right on our doorstep. There was lots happening nearby, with music stages, markets, and the year round water display in the bay, as well as a tour boat launch and a park with a nice waterfront walking path. But the square got loud and lively at night. The architecture was lovely, and the staff were professional, though I sometimes felt out of place if you weren’t German, since people kept approaching you in German. Our room was a good size, and the breakfast was delicious, with properly ripened fruit and fresh pastries. The dining space was small and the buffet area cramped. The shower tiles in the bathroom were generous, but there were spots of black mold. A bit of proper bleach and grout sealer would prevent that, but it seemed no effort had been made. Over our four nights, the room was made up only on the last night, and the sheets weren’t changed. The housekeeping staff seemed overwhelmed, still working at 3:30 pm when we returned to find our room untouched. The mattress was hard, made up of two single beds pushed together, and the pillows were hard and flat. The AC control was restricted and barely gave a breeze, but it kept the room comfortable at 24,4 Celsius when it was 37 Celsius outside. The common areas were very warm and humid in August. Parking cost €30+ per day for a very limited, cramped garage. For a four-star hotel at the price we paid, more attention should have gone to the bathroom mildew, daily room cleaning, and the size of the bath towels and other bed items I mentioned.

We had another wonderful two days at this hotel. The location is unique, the atmosphere is lovely, and the lake view from the rooms is stunning. Verbani is quieter and cozier than Stresa, and Federico gave us a personalized welcome. You’d be very fortunate to stay here someday.

The hotel sits right beside the lake, and it’s lovely to stroll there or have a coffee while watching the swans and ducks. The location is very nice. Our room was big enough and well equipped, and breakfast was very good, with a wide range of cold cuts, cheese, bread, sweets, corn flakes, and more.

The rooms were roomy and clean, and we had a nice view of the lake. Breakfast was decent, and the location made it easy to explore the little islands. But when we asked the staff where to have lunch, they just shrugged. They came across as unfriendly and not very helpful, which made the stay feel mixed.
