La Posada

The owners were lovely, the prices felt fair, and we had good service and terrific food. The Trofie al Pesto was one of the best pastas we’ve had in Italy, especially with the regional pesto and Ligurian green beans and potatoes. We expected shaved Parmesan on top from the reviews and photos, but got a small packet of parm instead, which was a little disappointing. We also tried the pistachio cream pasta with raw red shrimp, and it was perfect. The caprese was fresh and tasty, though not the best we’d had in Italy, and the dried herbs weren’t needed with the fresh pesto.

The lemon pasta was the best I’ve ever had. I can’t remember its exact name, but the fresh pasta was paired with a delicate lemon flavor that never overpowered it. And the view is to die for, though the food might be even better.

The seafood and desserts were fantastic, and they’re the reason I’d come back. The house wine was a good deal, and prices were fairly affordable. But service needs work. We had a booking and got a table inside; even though there weren’t many customers, it took ages to get menus and place our order. Five adults were given only three menus, and one dessert we ordered never arrived. The Caesar salad was a big serving but mostly lettuce, and the burrata pasta could have had more flavor. The food was great overall, but the customer service needs improvement.

We had a really good dinner in Corniglia. The marinara mussels were fresh, light, and delicious to start. The vegan salad was a bit bland and had very little dressing, but the mains made up for it. The spaghetti with burrata and tomato sauce was delectable. We also ordered the “cutlet & chips,” expecting fish and chips, or fries to Americans, then realized it was chicken, not fish. The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, so we were still very pleased.
