Alla Tomba Di Giulietta

It was Christmas time, so maybe someone else would have written the whole place off, but I want to be fair about what happened. We were two adults and a two-year-old, and arrived at 11 a.m. We checked in remotely, dropped our bags, then headed straight out. The apartment felt chilly, so I set the heat pump to 30°C, thinking it had only just been switched on. At 6 p.m. the living room and kitchen were reasonably warm, though the heat pump was still only working weakly. The bathroom and bedroom were cold. The thought of washing and sleeping, then waking up in that harsh environment with a toddler was the opposite of appealing. We tried several times to get the new boiler going, with help over the phone and from the owner's daughter. In the end, we moved elsewhere, and were promised a refund because of the trouble. The refund came through, but they asked to keep €50 for cleaning. We’d spent at most two hours in the apartment, and only in the kitchen, so that felt inappropriate. I also cleaned up the little I’d touched or stepped on, and the floor hadn’t been very clean when we arrived. Mrs. Paola was helpful otherwise, and the location was fine, with paid parking nearby. The living room lights felt gloomy and could use improvement, the TV shelf was precariously balanced, and the ground-floor apartment faces the street. The windows and balconies also need work. I was a little outside the city center and paid a little more, but got breakfast, free parking, and no unpleasant surprises.

These places could bring in more tourists, but if you have to pay, you give it up.
