Dimore Verona

Angela from the Verona office was kind, informative, and made us feel welcome. The apartment was very clean and organized, with all the equipment a family of five could need. The guest book also had detailed explanations. We stayed at a Dimore apartment on Via Angelo Scarsellini. It’s within walking distance of the old town, cafes, gelaterias, the river, and a gas station. The location is outside the restricted area, which made getting in and out of the city for day trips easy. There’s convenient underground parking in a nearby building. Highly recommended!

I can’t recommend this property because of how the manager handled the charges. After we checked out, 50 Euros were taken from my card without authorization, with the explanation that I hadn’t emptied the household waste bin. The agreement I signed listed the rent, an 85 Euro cleaning fee, and the deposit, but no charge for rubbish removal and no fines. In my experience, cleaning and taking out the rubbish are part of the cleaning staff’s job. I believe this deduction was improper and breached both the signed agreement and Booking platform rules. I booked through Booking, paid for the stay by card, and paid the tourist tax in cash on site, as requested, plus the garage fee. I received the keys and instructions and signed the accommodation agreement. With a car, collecting the keys and signing was very inconvenient: the parking lot was full and right in the city center. We checked into apartment 27 and found dirty floors. My daughter’s slippers and the adults’ shoes were dirty after just 10 minutes. There was dust on every surface and a thick layer of black dirt on the windowsills. The bed was scratched, its upholstery was coming apart, and the extra blanket was dirty and had no duvet cover. The apartment was damp and cold. Setting the temperature to 24 degrees made the floor so hot at night it was impossible to step on, and the air felt impossible to breathe.

We stayed at Dimora San Domenico 2 from July 1-5, 2024. This review is only about that one place, even though they have many properties. The apartment wasn’t in the condition shown on the website photos, and I have pictures to prove it. If I’d known how it looked, I wouldn’t have chosen it. There were ants and bugs all through the apartment. We told the owner, who came right away to spray, but then we had to sleep with the strong insect spray smell and all got headaches. The spraying didn’t solve it, since bugs kept coming through several holes, and there were ants everywhere for the whole stay. We found bugs on the dishes too, so we didn’t use the kitchen and ate all our meals out. We only used the apartment for sleeping, but the beds were very uncomfortable. The bugs made us feel uneasy and ruined our Verona trip. For this particular apartment, our experience was one star.

This address is for the administrative offices, not the hotel. The actual apartment is a 30 minute walk from the city center. Take that into account before booking in Verona.
