Hotel Siena

The room was quiet apart from some noise from the gelateria outside one Saturday night. It was spotlessly clean, and they cleaned our room every day. The staff were especially helpful and kind, always smiling, and spoke good English. Breakfast was simple but very nice. The historic centre is just a 10-15 minute walk away.

The room was okay for the price, though the walls are thin and one bulb was broken. The location is great, and the reception is open 24/7. The daytime woman was very nice. At my early checkout, though, the evening and overnight man seemed like he didn't want to be there. I picked the wrong currency on the payment pad, with no indication of what I was meant to select, and he nearly started yelling at me. He muttered angrily while sorting it out and said nothing else, no explanation, no goodbye. I apologized several times. He reversed the wrong payment quickly and I tried again, so it caused only a slight delay at worst, but he made it feel like I'd committed a financial crime. If the payment process matters that much, guests should be told how to use it beforehand.

My daughter and I were very happy with the hotel, its staff, and the location during our five nights there. It's a no-frills place, but it had everything we wanted at a reasonable price, with a clean, comfortable room and friendly atmosphere. It's conveniently placed for both the city and the train station, which worked well for our trips further afield to Venice and Milan. I'd highly recommend it.

We felt very welcome when we came for the Opera festival. The hotel is clean, friendly, and run really well, and the staff and location were fabulous. Breakfast is the only meal offered there, but you can walk to plenty of other places to eat, from cafes and bars to restaurants that are more than acceptable.
