The Hostello

The staff were really nice, and the amenities were clean. The bedrooms were well kept too, although the beds were quite small. I’d booked an all-girls room for four with a private bathroom, hoping to meet people at a hostel, but it wasn’t cheap. Instead, I found an older woman who seemed to be living there long-term. Maybe it’s just me, but that made me extremely uncomfortable. There was a strong smell like a damp towel, which I’m pretty sure came from her, and she was eating in the room too. The whole setup became unbearable, so I left the next morning and booked a hotel in the city center for only €10 more. Honestly, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to me in Europe.

It was a nice, safe little hostel, not too far from the center. The beds could do with privacy screens, and ventilation needs attention. I noticed damp windows at night and some visible mold in a few areas.

The neighborhood was pretty quiet, and it’s about a 30-minute walk to the Arena. The beds had enough space between them, and the toilet was fine. Living and dining areas were decent, there was free coffee and biscuits, and the kitchen was good enough for making simple meals.

The hostel feels cozy and like it could have a good atmosphere. There’s coffee, tea, and biscuits available. But for the price, the conditions and location feel overpriced. It’s not central, so getting to places of interest takes a fair walk. The internet was poor, the mattress was awful and sagged from overuse, the bedroom toilet door didn’t lock, and some of the staff weren’t very pleasant. The TV in the games area was broken too.
