We had such a relaxing stay and would love to come back for longer. Camping Bosco Verde sits among the trees, with a little side gate leading to a lovely walk through the forest to the long sandy beach. The pine-scented air, dunes and wildlife were wonderful, and we loved jumping over the waves. If the sea gets too rough, there's a pool too. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our kitchen had everything we needed, including hot water, a conditioner, fridge, cooker and utensils. We also tried the market shop and restaurant at Camping Bosco. Restaurants and shops in the village are within walking distance, and getting here from the railway station was easy, with good connections to Pisa Airport and other towns. A great base for exploring nature.

The staff are kind and doing their best, and the pool is clean. But it’s just a plastic basin in the ground, unheated, and the whole campsite feels old. It might have been nice back in 1980, but now it’s dated.

The place felt dirty, chaotic and far too expensive, and I left feeling cheated and disappointed. We relied on the very positive Booking.com reviews, but I wish we’d checked Google reviews first, as they seem much closer to what we found. The mobile home smelled awful and, at maybe €40 a night, would still have felt overpriced for what we paid. Everything looked neglected, as though the site hadn’t been renovated in 30 years, and the facilities seemed poorly maintained. The restaurant was so messy and uninviting that we didn’t want to sit there. The pool also shuts at 6 PM, which seems absurd in summer. Every half hour, loudspeaker announcements told people what not to do. It made the atmosphere feel almost military, like we were constantly being watched instead of relaxing. Avoid it if cleanliness, peace and basic comfort matter to you.

For the price, the homes were affordable enough, but I wouldn’t choose this place again. The cleaning rules and fines were ridiculous, and the stay itself was rough. There were four of us in a tiny mobile home. Small wasn’t a huge issue since we mostly needed somewhere to sleep, but it was already dirty when we arrived, with marks on the doors and cutlery and odd dark spots in the bathroom. Half the equipment didn’t work: the gas oven, the fridge (especially missed in 40-degree heat), and a window. We were beside the public bathrooms, which staff regularly cleaned and maintained. There were also laundry areas and drinking water points. Wi-Fi was terrible unless you stood right by the router. Breakfast and dinner were included in our booking, but the quality varied. Breakfast was basic, just a few croissants and bread with cheese and ham. We were nearly 60, and the drinks were never enough: usually just a few juice cartons, water bottles, coffee and milk. Dinner was bland and extremely oily. There were several servings, but they brought them separately instead of putting a meal together, and most days we ate only because we were so hungry. The three workers were super friendly and tried their best, though they barely spoke English. With just three people for 60 guests, dinner could take up to two hours, and in the confusion some people were missed and got no food. The little shop was practically empty. We checked on several days and found a few poor bottles of water at most, with neither an employee nor much stock. I’d recommend the nearby coop instead. For water or a simple drink, the vending machine near reception had lots of choice at a good price. The beach wasn’t appealing either, though that’s not the campsite’s fault. It took around 30 minutes to walk there, and the water was murky and green, with algae and big jellyfish. The surrounding area felt bleak, with lots of abandoned houses, facilities and gardens, as if the town had emptied out. Our travel bus was broken into the night before we left, causing delays and stress. We didn’t use the campsite’s more protected parking lot, but the incident did make me wonder about the area’s safety. There were a few ways to pass the time near the bar and restaurant: big chess, a playground, trampolines and a pool that looked deserted. You could also rent bicycles.

The coffee bar staff were awesomely friendly, and you could get tasty croissants there. Our mobile home was clean, big enough for five people and had AC. The reception service needs more friendliness and training. To me, reception is the face of the place and one reason guests might return. Only one guy at reception was really, really nice 🙏🏾. The pool was tiny and overcrowded in the third week of August. It took 30 minutes to walk to the beach, where you had to pay for a private beach area or keep going to the public one. The campsite parking was very dusty, so after a few days your car will be covered in dust.
