Getting into the city center was easy, the bus stop is right outside and you can buy tickets at reception. I had a great time staying in a small tent, with nature all around and a clean campsite. Natasha, the receptionist who checked me in, was helpful and did her job really well. There are phone charging boxes with your own key, which is a great idea. The bar's soya cappuccino was well priced, and the staff were warm and South Italian. I even got to learn some Italian. The showers sometimes got boiling hot, haha, and the mosquitoes were huge, so be prepared 😁. Thanks for everything.
We took day trips to Lucca, Pisa, and Florence by public transport, and buses also got us to the town and train station, which would have been quite a walk. A very well stocked supermarket was five minutes away, and the on-site cafe and restaurant had good food and service. Staff quickly brought us a new coffee pot when ours broke, and helped when a ball went into a locked area. Our clean wooden bungalow had everything we needed, including a large fridge and a decent sized freezer. We stayed nine nights in July and August 2025. The sandy beach was a 20 minute walk along a footpath, or there was a free minibus each way every hour. Great waves, and a beach bar for drinks and snacks. The pool was clean when we used it briefly. Swim hats were required, and no balls were allowed. There wasn't evening entertainment, but our son played football and volleyball with other children until late each night. We managed without paying for air conditioning, the temperature was fine for us. The water and taps were excessively hot, though, so watch out with young children.
We had a very nice stay, and the reception staff were pleasant too. We needed a transfer to the train station because we had luggage, and that was no problem. Viareggio was easy to reach by bus or a 25 minute walk. The beach was a 15 minute walk through the forest, or you could take the free transfer a few times during the day. The cottage was new and well equipped, and the other accommodation looked fine too. The pool was open 10-19, with a break from 13-14, and there was enough room for everyone. You had to wear a swimming cap, and food and jumping weren't allowed. The bar and restaurant were reasonably priced. There was mini golf, bike rental, table tennis, basketball, and a playground. I don't understand the bad reviews. I'd highly recommend this campsite for families.
When we checked out, they took €25 from our deposit for a burned pan that had already been like that when we arrived a week earlier. Nobody listened when we raised it. The owners were unfriendly and showed no hospitality, so the whole stay was very disappointing. We definitely wouldn't recommend it. The bungalow had been in really poor shape from the start. The floor, sink, and beds were dirty, spiderwebs were everywhere, and the dishes hadn't been washed.
The pool was great, and the food was good. Service in the bar and restaurant was lovely. We only stayed one night, though, and the accommodation was basic, no kettle, and the bed felt like cardboard. The beach was a good 30 minute walk. The owner was something else, so rude and abrupt. The town felt like a dump. I love Italy, just not this place, and wouldn't go back. Find somewhere better 🙌
