Campo Marzio Hotel

Massimo deserves a special mention, he was great! The room was spacious, comfortable, and nicely laid out, with an impressive bathroom. The hotel is in a perfect spot, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I’d recommend it for a lovely stay in Vicenza.

The front desk staff, especially Lucia, were fantastic, and the breakfast waitress was very friendly too. But we were charged for a bottle of prosecco that had been prepared for our arrival, and it was never brought to our room. That felt especially insulting. Breakfast was weak, with extra charges for coffee and omelettes. We paid for an upgrade, but it didn’t feel like a real one. The room had no full-length mirror, body lotion, conditioner, shower cap, or other toiletries you’d expect at hotels. There wasn’t any water in the room either, just plastic cups. For the price, the place felt cheap. I wouldn’t return.

We ended up at Hotel Campo Marzio after getting stranded in Vicenza on our way back from Verona because of the inefficient train system. It turned into a great surprise after such a disastrous train ride. We arrived on foot at 10pm, and the staff were kind to the three of us Americans and spoke very good English. The rooms were spotless and really comfortable. The front desk lent us two phone chargers and gave us toothbrushes, and breakfast the next morning was delicious. I’d come back.

The drug users behind the hotel were the worst part for me. They were openly using drugs, making noise, shouting and arguing under my window late at night and again early in the morning. Check-in was a bit chaotic, so I went out into the city. The room was somewhat dated but otherwise okay, and the breakfast buffet was so-so.
