Getting there by car was easy, even though the place is right in the middle of nature. We saw donkeys, chickens and deer, and there was delicious food too. But the dog was the part we keep remembering. We petted her for a few minutes when we arrived, then headed out to hike. She ran into the thick forest, which worried us at first, but kept appearing ahead of us and checking that we were still following. After a while she seemed used to us and a bit tired, and walked with us for the next four hours, completing the whole trail. When we doubled back because we weren’t sure which route to take, she came all the way back to find us. Later, after we’d left the restaurant, she popped over to say goodbye and get more cuddles. We love pets but don’t have the space or time for one, so having a dog keep us company when she’d only known us a few minutes made our day, and was the best experience of the month.

The food’s been tasty every time I’ve eaten here, and the setting in the forest is beautiful. They use local ingredients in traditional recipes. It’s a great spot for lunch after hiking down into and back out of the nearby forest ravine. Some guests could stand to slow down and relax. Service takes a while, but that’s not an issue for Italy, and everyone is friendly.

We stopped in one afternoon in mid-May, and were the only customers. Had a couple of drinks and a great panino with local cheese. It’s a pleasant forest beer garden, with good value on drinks and snacks, plus nice play areas and some animal shelters.

The setting is lovely, though the singer playing through a half-broken speaker made our ears hurt throughout the meal. We were five, and all five of us left unhappy. The place calls its work a hobby, but it came across more as an excuse for sloppy, disorganized service. Everything took ages, from getting the menu to being served and paying. The menu is short, with three primi piatti and three secondi piatti, and sounded good on paper, but the food didn’t work for us. The pasta sauce was tangy and acidic, with no taste of boar or crab. We got the impression that the same sauce is used for all the pasta, with just a few bits of boar or crab added at the end. Several dishes were forgotten, which was especially frustrating with mixed starters when you couldn’t tell what was missing. The ristretto coffee was horrible. For a two-course meal with water, coffee and coperto, expect around 25-30 euros per person. I wouldn’t go back.

We had tasty appetisers and pasta, though the meat dishes were a little bland. The staff were attentive, and it’s a nice place for families. It’s a lovely rural spot in the middle of a very nice natural park, with decent food overall.
